This section was established by Ministerial Decree No. (891) dated 08.21.1988 regarding the issuance of bylaws Higher Institute of the civilizations of the ancient Near East at the University of Zagazig, was developed study materials department at the Supreme Council of Universities approval dated 02/25/1991 and the Ministerial Decree No. ( 156) on 6/3 / 0.1991.

The department offers the following degrees:
1. Master of the civilizations of the ancient Near East.
2. PhD in the civilizations of the ancient Near East.
To get a master's degree, the student studying two years, and after passing the curricula becomes eligible to register for a master's degree.
Be entitled to registration PhD student after earning a master's degree magna cum laude, at least.
