This section was established by Ministerial Decree No. (891) dated 21.08.1988 regarding the issuance of bylaws Higher Institute of the civilizations of the ancient Near East at the University of Zagazig, was developed study materials section at the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities dated 25/02/1991 and the Ministerial Decree No. ( 156) dated 06/03/1991.

The department offers the following degrees:
1. Master of the civilizations of the ancient Near East.
2. PhD in the civilizations of the ancient Near East.
To get a master's degree, the student studying two years, and after passing the curricula becomes eligible to register for a master's degree.
Be entitled to registration PhD student after earning a master's degree magna cum laude, at least.
